As we step into November and the crisp Nebraska fall, we get to look back on an amazing October filled with community and growth. The past few months have been bustling with events, and while things are calming down slightly this month, we’re still gearing up for the Sub Spectrum Future Stars Championship and Fall Classic. Keep reading to see what we have going on in November, and a highlight of all the fun we had in October.
We’re excited to announce a new chapter at Kearney Combat Sports! This October, we welcomed Felipe Fogolin from Triunfo into our gym for an incredible seminar, where he shared his expertise, dedication, and passion for Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. After getting to know him and experiencing his coaching first hand, we made the decision to affiliate with Felipe and Triunfo, marking the end of our affiliation with Lincoln Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. We’re especially excited about this transition, as our very own Rachel Silverman, is already affiliated with Triunfo. Rachel has been an amazing leader, mentor, and example on the mats, and we’re excited to join her under the Triunfo banner.
With that being said, Coach Rachel, Coach Richard, and Coach Chelsea will be holding a much needed striping seminar in each class on Monday November 4th, Monday November 11th, and Tuesday November 12th. Please be sure to bring your own personal belts! Even if you train only No Gi or are on the fight team you are expected to have a belt to keep in your bag for striping and promotions.
With Thanksgiving just around the corner, our KCS coaches want to celebrate all the amazing things our members bring to our community. We’d love to challenge you to share what you’re most grateful for about KCS by posting it to your Instagram story and tagging us! Your stories inspire us every day, and we can’t wait to hear what KCS means to you. Thank you for being such a valued part of our family!
We will be traveling as a team to compete at Sub Spectrum in Des Moines, IA on November 9th for both the youth Future Stars Championship Trials, and the Adult No Gi Fall Classic. We will also be taking our coaching staff to Nebraska Jiu Jitsu Championship in Lincoln, NE on November 23rd to corner our youth and adult members who are competing. The Nebraska Jiu Jitsu Championship tournament is a great opportunity for new athletes to get their first competition under their belt. Please reach out to one of the coaches if you are unsure if you should register to compete.
A huge shoutout to Jose Hernandez and Yesenia Turcios for their courage, hard work, and dedication in stepping into the cage last month! They both showed incredible heart and resilience, pushing their limits and representing Kearney Combat Sports with pride. Fighting takes a unique level of commitment and bravery, and we couldn’t be prouder of how they put themselves out there. Their performances were inspiring to all of us, and they continue to set a great example for our community. Thank you, Jose and Yesenia, for all the hard work you put into your training and for showing us what true grit looks like!
Our Halloween Dodgeball event was a fantastic success! The kids had an unforgettable time, especially with the unexpected—and slightly spooky—appearance of the Other Mother! We hope the surprise brought just the right amount of Halloween thrill without too many scares. Thank you to everyone who joined in the fun and made it a memorable day!
